Los Angeles, Calif. – Sept. 06, 2016 – IT consulting services provider T2 Tech Group was selected by Verity Health System for a project to transform the California hospital system’s IT infrastructure. Working together, the two organizations are reshaping Verity’s IT operations, consolidating data centers, implementing improved security and upgrading critical applications.

The strategy underway has achieved nearly $5 million in savings within the first six months. Some savings have come from a clinical engineering services transition.

The project is expected to achieve additional savings over the next five years through enhanced data center management, contract restructuring and other initiatives.

Based in Redwood City, Calif., Verity Health System comprises five hospitals and an acute care facility spread across Northern and Southern California.

“Following a recent change in management, Verity Health is investing in new infrastructure, facilities and technology to better serve our physicians, our staff and, ultimately, our patients,” said Steve Garske, Ph.D., CIO at Verity Health. “T2 Tech is working with us to update our IT systems because of its track record of completing complex projects on schedule and within budget.”

To improve Verity Health’s data center and infrastructure, T2 Tech is engaging in an effort to consolidate the hospital system’s IT operations. T2 Tech will decommission all of the data centers located at Verity’s hospitals and its main data center in Plano, Texas, and the decommissioned data centers will be replaced by two colocation facilities.

In addition to moving to a new state of the art data center, the team will be virtualizing and consolidating all the servers and storage. T2 Tech also is working with Verity to:

  • Develop an enhanced information security strategy and governance program, which will encompass IT policies, employee and physician awareness initiatives, and technical controls;
  • Ensure its electronic health record software solutions meet the needs of affiliated physicians and other clinical partners;
  • Remediate and upgrade a number of applications used across Verity Health System; and
  • Refresh all the networking equipment and workstations in all facilities.

Such IT maintenance and upgrades are common among healthcare systems in the United States and worldwide. T2 Tech’s extensive background in healthcare IT makes it the ideal partner for transforming healthcare IT systems.
