John Wooden, one of the most revered coaches in the history of sports who led his teams to a number of NCAA college basketball championships and coached some of the greatest basketball players in the history of the game, stated, “A player who makes a team great is more valuable than a great player.” Just like in sports, teamwork is the backbone of T2 Tech Group’s success.
Successful teams effectively collaborate and rely on their team members to achieve their objectives and end goals. Our employees at T2 Tech possess three main attributes which allows them to create successful teams: technical skills, character and leadership abilities.
Inherent technical skills can only take an individual so far in their career. When teams full of talented individuals are formed, each member must leverage their unique skills to complete specific tasks in concert with others to contribute to the greater good of the team. The character of our employees attests to their ability to be team players. Because they are accustomed to teamwork, our employees have a strong work ethic, collaborate well with others and adjust as the situation changes. In addition, our teams are full of superb leaders. Just like the coach or captain of a sports team, they keep their teams motivated, supported and lead them to victory.
I’ve always took to heart Branch Rickey’s outlook on life based on a quote he once stated, “Luck is the residue of design.” As a baseball executive, Rickey not only architected and built successful baseball teams, but at the same time built processes and broke down barriers that revolutionized America’s pastime. The most notable achievement of his vision was breaking the color barrier with Number 42, Jackie Robinson.
Having a successful vision can only be achieved by an upfront design and proper execution. I see this happening every day in our offices and at our clients’ sites. At T2 Tech, our project management methodology balances upfront planning with an Agile approach to execution to meet client stakeholder objectives. We partner with clients to build a strong, team-oriented foundation which leads to positive results.
It is no coincidence that many of our employees have gained valuable lessons about skills, character and leadership from their time invested playing sports. A majority of T2 Tech’s employees have a background competing in a variety of sports, including Spartan races, Ironman triathlons, marathons, 50-mile ultra-races, Jiu-Jitsu, baseball, water polo, ice hockey, weightlifting and basketball. See for yourself some of our ex-professional athletes, collegiate competitors and ambitious weekend warriors:
If you’ve read my previous blog post titled “The Story Behind the Name”, you’ll get a full picture of the foundation of our culture. Recently, some of our team members dedicated time to train and participate in the 2018 Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon. We have a great team here at T2 Tech and each individual brings unique and skillful qualities to accomplish our client’s goals.
